Help:Notifications & co
[edit]Hello Leszek
I've noticed that you have copied on your sub-pages the content of Help:Notifications and some other pages related to Echo.
I'm currently working on these pages, to update them. Also, I'm considering to create a normalized way to explain how notifications work. You can find more information about that there.
You input is also welcome, if any! Trizek_(WMF) (talk) 19:36, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Trizek, thanks for leaving a note.
- I've indeed copied some notification-related(specifically mentioning related) pages over intending to expand them slightly to provide more details on how mentions work.
- You could see a draft of what I had in mind to add in User:Leszek_Manicki_(WMDE)/Help:Notifications/Notification_types#Mentions (it's based on outdated subpage at the moment). Would you mind if I started moving those few bits into the "real" help sub page?
- I was also considering expanding Manual:Echo but I am not sure what to actually do with this page. I am going to add some remarks on its discussion page. Feel free to have a look if you were interested.
- Thanks Leszek Manicki (WMDE) (talk) 13:23, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- Create a page about mentions is fine. We can imagine to have a page like Help:Notifications/Mentions and create a link to that page from Help:Notifications/Notification_types#Mentions. I don't want to overload that page, a subpage seems to be the best option. You can add there all documentation concerning Mention failure extension.
- Concerning Manual:Echo, it is more technical and out of my scope. To avoid duplicates, I would recommend to create a link to the Help page instead of having the sale text at two different places. Trizek_(WMF) (talk) 13:33, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- I agree the Notification types page should not be overloaded. I've just added few more sentences there, though. Feel free to revert (fully or partly) if you think it is getting to more detailed.
- I think making a separate Mentions sub page makes sense when we're going to add even more information, and more changes to mention code is done (e.g. mention failures you mentioned). We (WMDE) will be working on this rather soon and as there are new features popping up! Leszek Manicki (WMDE) (talk) 15:22, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- Your Mention failure extension is alive on four wikis afak. They desserve to have documentation, as well as interested users desserve it.
- I think that should be grouped on one single page, with a dedicated section for your extension. Trizek_(WMF) (talk) 15:46, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
Welcome
