Deployment of MediaWiki 1.20 to Wikimedia Foundation sites will start on Tuesday, April 10th, with MediaWiki.org and a test wiki (see the software deployments schedule for exact timing and addresses). Then, on Monday April 16th, we'll deploy to Wikimedia Commons and the other non-Wikipedia wikis. The 1.20 deployment will be our first deployment from Git rather than Subversion.

MediaWiki 1.20wmf1 has been deployed to Wiktionary, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wikibooks, Wikiquote, Wikiversity, Commons and most other non-Wikipedia sites. English Wikipedia is next, slated for Monday, April 23. The other Wikipedia languages will be upgraded on Wednesday, April 25. We haven't yet automated the process of rolling out to the other sites, so there may be some still on 1.19. These will be upgraded on Wednesday, April 25.
As of April 2012, core software deployments to Wikimedia sites are done from git (instead of Subversion) through incremental "wmf" branches. The first deployment of the 1.20 release cycle, labeled 1.20wmf1, was deployed to all Wikimedia sites this month; it notably brought new diff colors for improve readability. The 1.20wmf2 deployment cycle began on April 30. The 1.20.0 stable tarball is expected to be released in fall of 2012.
MediaWiki 1.20wmf4 has been deployed to mediawiki.org, as well as the test wikis (test.wikipedia.org and test2.wikipedia.org). The new version will be deployed to the remaining wikis over the coming days, with the final deployment happening June 6.
In May, MediaWiki 1.20wmf2 and 1.20wmf3 were rolled out to all Wikimedia wikis. MediaWiki 1.20wmf4 has been deployed to mediawiki.org, as well as the test wikis (test.wikipedia.org and test2.wikipedia.org).
The MediaWiki 1.20wmf6 deployment started on Monday, June 25, and is now deployed on all non-Wikipedia sites. Deployment to en.wikipedia.org will happen Monday, July 2.
The MediaWiki 1.20wmf6 deployment started on Monday, June 25, and is now deployed on all non-Wikipedia sites. Deployment to *.wikipedia.org will happen Monday, July 2. This is a departure from our normal practice due to July 4 holiday in the U.S.
The MediaWiki 1.20wmf8 deployment process started Monday, July 23, and is now running on all non-Wikipedia sites. Rollout to English Wikipedia will happen on Monday, July 30, and to other Wikipedia sites on Wednesday, August 1.
Bi-weekly deployments continued through July, with the completion of the MediaWiki 1.20/wmf6 and MediaWiki 1.20/wmf7 deployments. The deployment of MediaWiki 1.20/wmf8 started on July 23 and will conclude on August 1. Bi-weekly deployments are expected to continue through August.
Deployment of MediaWiki 1.20wmf9 was completed to all non-Wikipedia sites (as of August 8), and to English Wikipedia (as of August 13). Deployment to the remaining Wikipedia sites will happen August 15.
MediaWiki 1.20wmf11 and MediaWiki 1.20wmf12 were deployed to the Wikimedia sites in September. Mark Hershberger published two testing tarballs in preparation for a tentative October release of MediaWiki 1.20.

Mark Hershberger published the MediaWiki 1.20 stable tarball on November 7th. Chris Steipp published a security update (1.20.1) on November 29th.
