The ImageRating extension adds a new special page, Special:ImageRating, where privileged users can categorize and rate images. By default all registered users are given the rateimage user right, which is required for users to be able to access this special page.

The rating functionality uses the VoteNY extension, and thus VoteNY is a hard dependency for this extension, i.e. you cannot install and/or use ImageRating without installing VoteNY, too.

  • Download and place the file(s) in a directory called ImageRating in your extensions/ folder.
  • Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php:
    wfLoadExtension( 'ImageRating' );
  • Yes Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.

  • ImageRating only works on locally uploaded files
