Customisation
Appearance
Outdated translations are marked like this.
MediaWiki can be customised in several ways. It is distributed as GPL. You may thus contribute your own skins, extensions and patches.
Configuration
- Configuration settings are defined in the
LocalSettings.phpfile. - Interface messages can be modified by editing their corresponding wiki page.
- Many community-provided extensions are available. They generally fall into one of these categories:
- Extensions defining a new wiki tag (see also: Write your own MediaWiki extension)
- Extensions defining a new special page (see also: Writing a new special page)
- MediaWiki is multilingual, and fully so with the Translate extension.
- * The FAQ contains additional customisation info.
- See also Manual:System administration.
Skins

Look and feel can be modified by using different skins. There are various third-party skins, which allow radically changing the look and feel of the site.
