Reference Edit Check at Arabic Wikipedia.

The Editing Team is building a new feature for the visual editor. It is called Edit Check.

Edit Check is designed to encourage newcomers to add inline citations. The project has also been designed to benefit projects as a whole by increasing the likelihood that newcomers add citations before publishing new information to an article.

Could you all try the initial version of the feature and share what you think? Testing instructions are below.

Why are we building this?

At the moment, anyone not aware of "please cite your sources" policy can edit an article and add facts with no citations. When this happens, the people who make these edits often become disappointed when they discover the changes they made were reverted. On the other hand, experienced volunteers grow frustrated by needing to continually revert low-quality edits and post messages on inexperienced volunteers' talk pages that often go unnoticed.

We are focusing our work on adding citations for now, but we can imagine many different types of prompts in the future!

Testing instructions

We offer your community the possibility to test the feature and to provide initial feedback.

Edit check is only activated if you follow the instructions written below; the feature is not visible for newcomers.

To try Edit Check at INSERT WIKI NAME:

1. Edit any article in the main namespace using the VisualEditor.
   • The feature is only available for articles.
2. Add &ecenable=1 to the URL in your browser.
   • Example: https://ar.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%D8%B5%D9%8A%D9%81&action=edit&section=1&ecenable=1
3. Reload the page with the new URL.
4. Create a new paragraph, that is at least 50 characters long without adding a citation
5. Press the Publish…
6. Notice the prompt that appears
7. ✅ Test is completed.
   • Don't save your edit unless you know what you are doing!

¿Por qué estamos construyendo esto?

これを開発する理由は？

現在のところ、記事編集の方針「情報源を出典として示すこと」に気づいていない人でも記事の編集自体は可能で、典拠のないまま事実を追加してしまいます。こういう編集は結果として巻き戻されることがしばしばですし、投稿したご本人はさぞ、がっかりすることでしょう。あるいは経験を積んだ編集者は相手は違っても、何度も似たような低質な編集をチェックしなければならず、イライラが蓄積しがちで、しかも経験が浅い利用者のトークページに注意喚起のメッセージを書いても、相手が気づかないままだと未読になります。

そこで当チームは、現状では出典の追加に着目していますが、今後はどんな注意喚起をするか、さまざまなニーズがあると予測しています。

試用の手順について

皆さんのコミュニティに機能の試用をしてもらえるようにしますので、初版に関するフィードバックをお寄せください。

この編集チェックは、以下の手順どおりに有効にした場合のみ、使えるようになります。つまり、現状ではまだ編集初学者には可視化してありません。

日本語版ウィキペディアでこの編集チェックツールを試用する方法。

1. ビジュアルエディタに切り替え、記事名前空間にあるお好きなページを編集モードで開きます。
   • この機能の対象は記事ページ限定です。
2. ブラウザのURL欄の文字列末尾に &ecenable=1 と追加します（以下のサンプル、太字部分）。

Editing Team đang xây dựng một tính năng mới cho trình sửa đổi trực quan. Nó được gọi là Kiểm tra Sửa đổi.

Kiểm tra Sửa đổi được thiết kế nhằm khuyến khích thành viên mới thêm chú thích tại dòng. Dự án này cũng được thiết kế để làm lợi cho bản thân các dự án bằng cách làm tăng khả năng người mới đến thêm chú thích trước khi xuất bản bất cứ thông tin mới nào vào bài viết.

Tại sao chúng tôi lại xây dựng tính năng này?
