It is nice, that you are all working hard to make the editing easier. I appreciate that.

But I'd really really like to see a button at the top, that allows me to see a preview without taking a long round trip. I don't understand how that happened, that this button isn't there with that new edit view. Or really, how did that happen? Seriously? "Show changes" + "show preview" are the only two buttons that most of the users actually need. Comment here is simple: "If you need a button to add a link, then please use a Visual Editor."

P.S. That text on top of the feedback system, that should show where this comment will be published (VisualEditor/Feedback) doesn't actually link to the right place.

There have been a lot of complains about the preview button being hard to find / awkward to access in the 2017 wikitext editor. A phabricator task has been open on the issue for a year. There doesn't seem to be much work on beta-editor recently. There is an EnWiki consensus against the beta editor due to bad performance issues and faulty previews.

Note: There's a separate page for 2017 wikitext editor/Feedback.

They used the same dialog box for VisualEditor's 2017 wikitext mode and its visual mode. The workflow was optimized for the visual editor (several years before the wikitext mode was built), so it's not ideal for the wikitext mode. I think they'll be considering a few changes to that in due course. In the meantime, you might be interested in learning the w:en:Wikipedia:Keyboard shortcuts for those actions; in most browsers, they are the same keys for all of the wikitext editors. That will allow you to bypass the Save dialog.
