I noticed a couple thing missing, like being to horizontally align/justify text, borders/padding/size for tables, etc. Are there any plans for adding ways to edit these visually? I tried looking around for any discussion, including in Phabricator, but this was all I found. Is that the only point it's been considered?

Text alignment inside tables is phab:T103276. I think that the central task is phab:T54180. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/visualeditor-tables/ has a list of table-specific feature requests and bug reports.
