How to publish an article that is sitting in the WP:CXT translator

I’m a new user and I figured jumping in would be the best way to go, so came up with my first translation using the wikipedia translate page, though without using an automated translator. But only afterwards I saw that new users cannot use this tool to publish. So, is it still possible to publish the translation on English wikipedia anyhow to get feedback and help with the work?  Should I just wait the 30 days and make the required number of edits then try again?

Cheers and thanks!

Hi @TimeForLunch, in the English Wikipedia you cannot at the moment publish if you have less than 500 edits. However, you can publish to your user namespace by changing the title of the translated article to "User:TimeForLunch/TITLE", and then moving it to the main namespace.

Thanks User:Amire80. I was easily able to change the title of the translated article but am stumped on the the moving of the article to the main namespace. As a new user of Wikipedia I'll just keep editing, plugging away, and eventually will eventually figure it out.

This is possible if you go to "More" at the top of the page and then "Move". See .

However, this is possible after you publish the article. Did you publish it? I cannot see a translation in your contributions, although it's possible that I missed it. Can you please tell me the article title?

TimeForLunch (talkcontribs)

OK I was able to publish it as User:TimeForLunch/Treasure_Museum. There were some hiccups during the translation, so the article has some issues that I'll need to fix.

Thank you very much for your guidance.

You're welcome, thanks for the translation!

I wanted to do the same with my English translation of an article I could publish only as a draft but I can not find the option "More" at the top of the page. I am a new user of Wikipedia so maybe this option is not available for me. Amire80, could you please help to move this translation to the main namesapace?

Amire80 (talkcontribs)

Yes, @Peter Emmet, you probably don't see "More" because you have too few edits.

I guess that you are talking about "Draft:Tadeusz Nowicki (industrialist)". I'd move it for you, but actually, in the English Wikipedia it's super-important to have references in all articles, especially in articles about living people (it should be important in all languages, really). Can you please add them? You can probably copy them from the Polish article (I trust that you checked that they are actually correct and relevant).

@Amire80 Thank you very much for your prompt reply. Yes, I was talking about "Draft:Tadeusz Nowicki (industrialist)". I've just added all the references which are in the Polish article and which I have checked before I started to translate the article. I hope the English version is OK now. Thank you once again for your commitment.

@Amire80 My translation is still available only as a draft. In your opinion, should I make any additional alteration to improve it and make it ready for moving to the main namespace?

Amire80 (talkcontribs)

At a first glance it looks OK.

You have now made 10 edits. Do you see the More->Move actions at the top of the page now? If you do, then you can move it out of Draft yourself.

Peter Emmet (talkcontribs)

Nope, I can see only Talk / Preferences / Beta / Watchlist / Contributions / Log out. I am afraid that without your help it won't be moved out of my drafts. Can you please try to move it for me?

Amire80 (talkcontribs)

What you are talking about here is the topmost personal bar.

Look at the tabs at the top of the article: Draft, Talk, Read, Edit, ★ (Star), More, search box. Move is under More.

Is there another way to publish a translation, without having to make 500 edit. I'm personally involved in what i translate.
