CX ignores content in templates, but this makes it miss important bits of article content, as for example in articles using the {{multicol}} template, e.g. en:Granta

multicol is an example of some complex template we are yet to solve - It is multi-part template - meaning, it is a mix of Multicol, Multicol-break(n times), Multicol-end. VE supports editing it as Wikitext. But adapting it to another language where this template may exist or not is tough problem. So instead of trying and resulting bad markup at published article, we just blacklist them in source article ... for now.
Understood, but perhaps the blacklisting could be less silent -- i.e. indicate clearly that some content is gone.
