Text disappearing after translations

Hi,

The following occurred for the second time (perhaps the third).

As you know, whilst typing, the page is continuously being saved by your system, which is a good way of helping editors.

It astounds me although that of my translation only part remains and what remains is wrong. Therefore, could you please verify if your Java or Javascript is working as it should be working, please.

Many thanks,

KurtVm

Hi, There are some known issues while translation is saved and restored for continuing. I assume this is what you are talking. We are improving this part at present and hopefully able to rectify soon. This is non-trivial if the source article changed while translation going on.

Hi Santhosh.thottingal,

Thanks for yr reply on my questions. As of today I am saving my work in a Word document, in order not to lose the translation any more.

Pity the automatic translation English to Dutch isn't available (yet).

Ciao,

Kurt

Hello @KurtVm, machine translation support for Dutch is available via Yandex but not enabled for Dutch at the moment as there has not been any prior request for machine translation. If you think this would be helpful, please do feel free to let us know and also, it would be great if this idea is mentioned on the village pump so that other editors are aware.

Thank you and much apologies for the trouble you are currently facing with article saving. @Santhosh.thottingal is already working continuously, with other team members, to resolve this problem as soon as we possibly can. Meanwhile, please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any other feedback. Thanks.

Hi Runab,

in the meantime, I found it is possible to use Google Translate, which is a good, though not a 100% correct, alternative.

Perhaps it could be advised for other languages where translation isn't possible for the moment ?

I haven't heard of Yandex yet, but I'll try it out if I need it, okay ?

Many thanks,

Kurt

You can try out the GoogleTrans gadget content translation feature. You enable the gadget in your destination wiki (see  and  for help on this). The Yandex translation engine is supported now if you select it in the language change box of the gadget. The Google translation engine is the default one. Once the gadget is set in the common.js file of your destination wiki, you can select a paragraph in the middle column of the content translation system (the paragraph to be translated), hold the CTRL and ALT keys down at the same time. Then the paragraph will be translated to the destination wiki language and the HTML markup will be kept. This aids in translation. I have done 102 simple French articles to English this way.

You can translate, using the Yandex translation engine, from Russian to Ukranian, vice versa. In fact any of the language pairs supported by Yandex or Google are possible.
