Wikimedia Open Tech Chats | 29 November![]() |
What | Weekly open meetings of the Wikimedia technology community to discuss technical issues, architectural challenges and process improvements. |
---|---|
How | We're trying a combination of Google Hangout on Air (an open YouTube stream from the 6th floor of the WMF office) + potential additional Hangout guest speakers + IRC for text-based communication. There's no attendance limit. You don't need Hangout to participate -- if you can play YouTube videos and join IRC, you're fine. |
When | Thursday, November 15, 2012, 20:30 UTC (12:30 PST), 60–90 minutes |
Where |
|
Food | It's a brown bag - bring your own :) |
Topics[edit]
- Guest speaker: Saper on Git & Gerrit tricks
Suggestions:
- Follow along via screensharing as a developer fixes a bug, including investigation, git commit, and closing the Bugzilla ticket
- Note: I've been working on a video of just this for a different project, and I like the idea generally, but I think it's better when the developer is new to the project. Keep an eye out? --MarkTraceur (talk) 02:04, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- Whether we should standardise on a dynamic stylesheet language for MediaWiki extensions and/or MediaWiki core, and if so, which (e.g. LESS or SASS)
- The future of Gadgets/ResourceLoader
- Discussing the glorious Wikidata future
