Besides, it seems that it cannot recognize CSS variables.

We're based on Ace 1.15.2 (since February 2023); latest as of today is 1.23.4. Pasting your examples into https://mkslanc.github.io/ace-playground/#hello-world doesn't error but looking at the upstream release diff it's not obvious which version has those fixes, so I made a general task asking to update to latest.
