In my case, the issue was caused by the ModSecurity WAF used by Namecheap. Once they turned it off, VE worked.
Hello. After unsuccessfully searching for the answer, I decided to ask this here.
It seems like a number of wiki owners cannot get VisualEditor running out-of-the-box in MW 1.35.
Is this a known problem, and has a solution been shared anywhere?

Do go through that ticket again now. Most users have been able to get their installs working. But, based on the email thread and the other namecheap thread, it looks like you need to manually configure your private wiki usecase and also figure out namecheap issues.
