I have imported wikipedia using importDump.php. I have been looking over some of the missing templates via Special:WantedTemplates. the problem is that I am limited to 1000 templates and most of the templates that are now showing are not templates at all. According to wikipedia they are using Template as a magic word (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:SHORTDESC). EG

Template:SHORTDESC:Township in Minnesota, United States‏‎ (870 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:Village in Illinois, United States‏‎ (838 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:City in :Template:Country data Iowa, United States‏‎ (828 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:Township in Michigan, United States‏‎ (554 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:City in Kansas, United States‏‎ (500 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:Civil township in Michigan, United States‏‎ (477 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:Town in Indiana, United States‏‎ (411 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:City in Kentucky, United States‏‎ (398 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:City in Minnesota, United States‏‎ (383 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:City in Georgia, United States‏‎ (377 links)

Template:SHORTDESC:Town in Maine, United States‏‎ (351 links)

Is there a way to make Special:WantedTemplates ignore Template:SHORTDESC so I can view the real missing templates?

It shouldn't be used as a template, but when it is you can create {{SHORTDESC}} to remove it from the wanted templates

Thanks for your reply. I tried creating a blank template (Template:SHORTDESC:) and I also copied wikipedias Template:SHORTDESC template (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:SHORTDESC)

Unfortunately it is still showing up as missing templates :(

Is the link showing as a redlink or a blue link (i.e. does the linker know it exists yet)? It should go away when it next refreshes

Definitely is being cached I have updateSpecialPages.php running on a 2 minute cronjob

What I meant to say is that Special:WantedTemplates is being updated and not cached old links

If "Template:SHORTDESC" shows up as red, then you haven't created that template. I think you can't create an empty page, you may need to write some content to it. You can simply add <nowiki></nowiki> to it which won't output anything

I have added <nowiki>%lt;/nowiki> to Template:SHORTDESC and to Template:SHORTDESC:

All of the links are still showing up as red.

It seems strange to me because these templates do not seem to exist on the wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:SHORTDESC:Town_in_Massachusetts,_United_States

Template:SHORTDESC:Township in Minnesota, United States‏‎ and Template:SHORTDESC:Village in Illinois, United States etc. aren't actually templates. The only template is Template:SHORTDESC.

Regarding your problem, try running RunJobs.php too. Maybe that'd help?
