it may be a bug or an expected limitation

to reproduce:

go to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Template:Wikidata_check/Disambiguation_page

click run it link at the bottom

click big play button on the left

select link menu on the right

select shorten link

follow produced link (unable to post it due to spam filter that BTW eats entire post, forcing to retype it)

link leads to error page

Thanks @Mateusz Konieczny! It seems the embed.html doesn't port too well from the original Wikidata -- it hardcodes the query.wikidata.org, instead of using the current domain. I will try to fix it soonish. Thanks for the report!

@Yurik Thanks for the very fast reaction! Next one, is a feature request - one person using this queries to fix OSM problem (rmikke) mentioned that fixing would be significantly faster with direct iD edit link. Is it something that may be easily added?

Yurik (talkcontribs)

@Mateusz Konieczny it is possible, I will see what I can do. BTW, the best way would be to allow MapRoulette and JOSM to use queries directly. And for that, we need to get the service onto a more stable server with a proper URL... Time to ping OSM people :)

Thanks, but... edit link for Zaborze opens edit window on such a low zoom (half a world) that it's pretty useless.

Rmikke (talkcontribs)

Umm, correction - any edit link and the whole world.

Yurik (talkcontribs)

@Rmikke can you give me the ID of the OSM object, and the link that you see? BTW, the edit link may depend on the user preferences you have in OSM - you can set which editor is used.

Yurik (talkcontribs)

Ah, I see what the problem is. The osm.org editor URL does not position the map for ways and relations. It does work for nodes. While you can edit the object's tags, it should zoom in correctly. Ideally, this should be done by osm.org. I will check with them.

OK, it really does work fork nodes, thanks.

Now, I can see that you have changed your page so that "Run it"direvtly runs the query and "Edit query"... opens an empty editor. Also, now when I try to execute query ftom the editor, it doesn't run, but instead tries open an xml-like file.
