Errors in not-so-relevant pages

Hi,

Is it in any way useful to correct lint errors in pages that are unlikely to be viewed or edited much?

For example, I found some lint errors in user talk page archives. I'd fix them, but maybe it's not worth the time. On the other hand, their presence in the list of errors makes other errors harder to notice.

To save other people a click, this suggests Different handling for lint errors in User: and other non-article namespaces, a namespace filter, etc. :)

OK, but still: is it in any way useful? Or completely useless?

If it's in any way useful, then it could be done by people who are bored and can't find something better to do. If not, then filtering them out would indeed be more important.

Some of the lint issues must be fixed for rendering to be preserved when Tidy is replaced, for example. Others are not so critical and can be skipped. We are still trying to figure out how best to address this either via the UI, via filters like the one Arlo mentioned, or maybe even suppressing them completely.

Thanks for writing these docs:

So, it says: "fixing issues in the obsolete-tag, self-closed-tag categories advance this goal".

What prompted this question is a "self-closed-tag" issue on a user talk page archive. While far from being an important page, it should probably be displayed as correctly as possible in the future, when parsing is changed.

From this I understand that it is at least a bit useful to fix it, even if not high priority.

Yes, if it is a self-closed tag.
