Security issues related to showing IP address?

I wonder if there are any security issues with showing everyone's IP address.

Kind of ironic, considering this is being tested in a "sandbox" area...

This is the way talkpages (and all wiki-history pages) have always worked. E.g. here. Editors that are not logged-in are shown reminders to sign-in/up.

See en:Wikipedia:Why create an account? for extensive details.

What about ellipses for part of the IP address?

Is it impossible to nest another comment under your own comment?

Let me try.

Figured it out. You just responded to the original thing at the top. Not the comment below it. See above.

Actually at the bottom, but you are right that I clicked on the wrong thing.

Point is that the

is a long phrase, and in blue, whereas the correct thing to click on is short, black and fainted out.

Also, why have the big long line ever? Make it consistent, and functional. "Reply", in a more visible font/size would do the trick.
