Why can't I edit my post?
You can edit your own posts if you're logged in. I suspect (but don't know for sure offhand) this is not enabled for logged-out user posts because IP addresses can be shared.
Exactly. There can be many users editing from the same IP, at any given time. See the details in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Shared_IP_edu for a good explanation.
There has been some discussion about potentially allowing a time-limited window (e.g. 30 seconds), or other technical methods, for an IP to click "edit" soon after posting.
