Preferences not being saved

Okay, I take that back. After a significantly-delayed reaction (15 minutes or more), the preferences have now kicked in and are updating live once again. Perhaps some short-lived server problem?

My best guess would either be database lag or something stuck in a cache somewhere. The latter is probably most likely.
