Needed to download ASIRRA extension separately

The instructions said that ConfirmEdit includes ASIRRA, but I downloaded the version for 1.16.x and ASIRRA was not included. Downloaded ASIRRA and installed it and everything worked fine. I'm using the extension to prevent bots from registering (only confirmed users can edit my wiki, but the bots were still annoying) and I think this will work great!

As the documentation notes, you need to download the latest version of ConfirmEdit for Asirra to be included. (Or, conversely, you can do what you did, and download the separate Asirra extension.)

As Brted notes, Asirra is not in the latest version (trunc or named).

Well, in fairness to me, Asirra was removed after I left that comment.

Is there a reason for that? Having on extension with integrates the different approaches seems beneficial to me.

It was broken and no one seem interested in fixing it so it was reverted (by ^demon iirc).

:( but understandable

Can you give some details on why it was removed?

I don't know anything about the quarrel that seems to have taken place, nor could I find out anything about unfixed problems (svn commit just speaks of "Multiple issues pointed out in CR"). I just fetched the sources, copied them into my wiki installation and it worked. From all CAPTCHAs I like Asirra the most (ok, maybe HotCaptcha is even better, but I can't use that in a serious wiki) ;-)

Unfortunately there were some misunderstandings which led to the removal of asirra. However you can still use the Extension:Asirra, which is not realy broken. I think Asirra will make it back to ConfirmEdit with the next update of the plugin, and... if it is accepted. If not, I'll continue to develope and support Asirra Extension on my own, as some people here don't understand, that I have other things to do in my life, than just coding for MediaWiki. --Bachsau 17:25, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
