Reason for this page?[edit]

Hi @Jokes Free4Me: Why do Phabricator tokens need a dedicated documentation page which only lists what is already exactly shown in the user interface anyway? Or do you try to (somehow) extend this page? Curious to understand your reasoning... --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 18:09, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

It is shown in the user interface only for users. If someone is prevented from using phab, trying to access the "Award token" feature opens a "Login Required / You must login to continue." dialog. -- Jokes_Free4Me (talk) 18:14, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Jokes Free4Me: Hmm. That's the same for "subscribe" and many many other actions. Wouldn't it be easier to instead just mention that being logged in is required? Don't know... --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 18:21, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
@AKlapper (WMF): Well, the problem i found while merely browsing phab is that i can't make sense of the small icons for the tokens... Until i created an account, i could not see the entire list, or find the meanings anywhere. And since they (phacility) don't seem to document this themselves, i thought i could use MediaWiki as a "Legend" of sorts, for anyone else who is in a similar situation. -- Jokes_Free4Me (talk) 18:53, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
I understand that, I'm just not convinced if it's useful to expose such detail functionality for folks that don't have an account. Because using the functionality requires having an account anyway. But no worries please, and thanks for doing this! :) --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 19:21, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
