Project Pralekhan/Survey Result

This is a compiled version of “MediaWiki maintenance scripts: Feedback on documentation improvements” feedback under Project Pralekhan. This feedback was collected from 25 Feb 2022 to 5 March 2022.

Project Pralekhan is a documentation project under which MediaWiki's maintenance script documentation is being improved. Under this project, User:Jayprakash12345 has documented maintenance scripts. Apart from this, the main landing page for maintenance scripts has been improved with a sidebar for easier navigation.

Feedback

We got 12 responses from Google Form. There are 6 responses with username (including 2 WMF staff).

Overall, the survey gives positive feedback from the community.

Q1 - How helpful do you find the new structured documentation?

91% of users are finding new structured documentation helpful. Structured documentation consists of consistent structure with “Details”, “Options/Arguments”, “Usage”, “See also” etc.

Q2 - How accurate do you find the Usage section?

75% users are satisfied with the usage section which contains commands and demos on “how to run maintenance scripts” with different options.

16.7% users are finding themself neutral, and 8.3% users do not find the Usage section accurate.

Q3 - How easy is it to navigate between scripts?

41% users are finding easy navigation between the scripts.

25% users are neutral about easy navigation, and 33% users somewhat disagree with this.

33% disagree, clearly showing that ease of navigation should be improved more.

Q4 - How accurate and useful do you find the maintenance script categories?

41% of users are finding categories accurate and useful, and 33% are neutral.

25% of users do not find categories accurate and useful.

Other feedback

An anonymous user left feedback on Maintenance scripts/List of scripts. It describes the issue after wrapping the scripts into a collapsible template. It makes it hard for a user to search the script quickly as users have to expand the section before making a search.

Learning

• Use LimeSurvey ( LimeSurvey ) instead of Google Form as it is forbidden in China and many other countries.
• Collapsible templates on the “List of maintenance scripts” page should be removed as it makes search hard. ( List of scripts )
• Find more ways to easy the navigation between scripts
