The Cite extension allows a user to create references as footnotes on a page. It adds two parser hooks to MediaWiki, ‎<ref> and ‎<references />; these operate together to add citations to pages.

Instalação

This extension comes with MediaWiki 1.21 and later, so you do not need to download it. The remaining configuration instructions must still be followed.

• Exporte e coloque o ficheiro, ou ficheiros, num diretório chamado Cite, na sua pasta extensions/.
  Developers and code contributors should install the extension from Git instead, using:

  cd extensions/
  git clone https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/mediawiki/extensions/Cite
  

• Acrescente o seguinte código ao fundo do ficheiro $LocalSettings:

  wfLoadExtension( 'Cite' );
  

• Configure conforme necessário.
• Pronto – Na página especial Special:Version da sua wiki verifique se a extensão foi instalada.

Vagrant installation:

• Se estiver a utilizar Vagrant , instale com vagrant roles enable cite --provision

Configuração

$wgCiteBookReferencing

Enables an experimental feature for sub-references when set to true, see the help page. Valor predefinido: false

$wgCiteResponsiveReferences

Default setting for responsive display of references. When set to true, the references section will be displayed in multiple columns. Consulte a documentação de utilização. Valor predefinido: true

$wgCiteVisualEditorOtherGroup

When set to true, the Cite toolbar button can be moved under the Insert menu. This is used on Wikivoyage sites. See the original feature request. Valor predefinido: false.

By adding a definition in JSON to MediaWiki:Cite-tool-definition.json, the cite menu can be populated with tools that create references containing specific templates. The content of the definition should be an array containing a series of objects, one for each tool. Each object must contain name, icon, template properties. An optional title property can also be used to define the tool title in plain text. The name property is a unique identifier for the tool, and also provides a fallback title for the tool by being transformed into a message key. The name is prefixed with visualeditor-cite-tool-name-, and messages can be defined on Wiki. Some common messages are pre-defined for tool names such as web, book, news, journal.
