Wikimedia Tech Safari Program/Terms and Conditions apply
We're excited to offer data scholarships to support your participation in this virtual program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to contribute to Wikimedia projects using data. Before you apply for a scholarship, please carefully review these terms and conditions before submitting an application, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to these terms:
To be eligible for a data scholarship, you must:
- Be 18 years or older at the time of application.
- Be a resident of an African country with limited financial resources.
- Have a strong interest in using internet data to contribute to Wikimedia projects.
- Demonstrate financial need and how the scholarship will enable your participation in the program.
- Be able to commit to 3/4 duration of the virtual program.
Data scholarship recipients will receive:
- Access to all program materials and resources.
- Support from mentors and instructors throughout the program.
- A stipend to cover internet access and other participation costs.
The application process for data scholarships will be announced on the Wikimedia Tech Safari Program mediawiki page and through other communication platforms.
- Applications will be reviewed by a committee based on the eligibility criteria and the applicant's demonstrated need and potential.
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email for data support refund.
- Data support refund will be limited to only the first 70 registered attendees who contribute or attend at least 3/4 of the whole program.
- The selection process is final and no appeals will be considered.
Scholarship recipients are expected to:
- Attend 3/4 program sessions and actively participate in discussions and activities.
- Complete 3/4 program assignments and deadlines.
- Contribute to the program community in a positive and respectful manner.
- Share their learnings and experiences with others after the program.
The scholarship committee reserves the right to terminate a scholarship at any time if the recipient is found to be in violation of these terms and conditions or is not meeting the program expectations.
Use of personal information
The personal information you provide in your application will be used for the purposes of scholarship selection and program administration only. Your information will not be shared with any third parties without your consent.
All materials and resources provided in the program are governed by CC BY 4.0 LEGAL CODE. Scholarship recipients are permitted to share or distribute these materials without the express permission of the organizers.
Governing law
The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms. Under the following terms:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- Share Alike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
- No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
