WikiTide is a free, non-profit MediaWiki wiki hosting service that was founded in 2023. It is managed by the WikiTide Foundation. WikiTide is supported by user donations and does not include any advertising on its wikis.

In January 2024, it was decided that the WikiTide Foundation would take over Miraheze and the two sites would be merged. The merger began in March 2024. The new site was originally planned to be branded as Miraheze, but in April 2024 it was decided it may be instead branded as WikiTide. This is currently under discussion.

Technical details[edit]

WikiTide always uses the most recent stable version of MediaWiki.

WikiTide auto-installs several MediaWiki extensions on new wikis, with users having the option to enable many other extensions on the wiki (and request new ones), including VisualEditor and StructuredDiscussions .

WikiTide can download any MediaWiki extension, at the request of the operator of the wiki, provided that it passes a security review. The extensions that are already downloaded on WikiTide can be seen at their GitHub.

WikiTide uses the extension ManageWiki to allow users on individual wikis to enable/disable extensions, change a variety of settings (their logo, their favicon, etc.), change permissions and manage namespaces.

If requested, WikiTide provides support for custom domains, as long as the domain is pointed to them.

The (open source) code created by WikiTide, now archived, is viewable at https://github.com/WikiTideOrg.

WikiTide uses their own Phabricator instance for issue/bug reports as well as requesting features for wikis.
