Tone[edit]

I did not appreciate your tone at gerrit:330820, which I find aggressive on a personal level. In the future please stick to the merits of what you are commenting and avoid delivering ad hominem attacks. My comment followed, or tried to follow, the best practice for interaction and code review in the MediaWiki community, for instance Criticize ideas, not people and the CR checklist. Your tone lecture doesn't seem to consider our best practices, or anyway doesn't help me explain where you think I failed following them. For instance, if inappropriate or unsustainable are considered swearwords, or wiki-specific parsing is blasphemy for your religion, please state so clearly; otherwise, I have no way to understand your comment on tone or to improve my tone as you supposedly meant to help me to, so your comment ends up being a pointless tangent.

As for the merits, I note that you didn't address my specific proposal for a project-agnostic solution, i.e. using Extension:FeaturedFeeds, which I expressed on the task. This is also not very kind or productive.

P.s. Another best practice is to create a user page, in order to facilitate collaboration with fellow developers. If you need help with wiki editing, I'm available for assistance; you can probably also ask HR and liaisons at WMF.

Gerrit/Commit message guidelines[edit]

Hello, for your convenience I'm leaving here a link to a guideline that may be useful to you. Please check the part on commit message footer. Nemo 08:31, 12 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Engagement[edit]

I did not appreciate your tone at gerrit:330820, which I find aggressive on a personal level.

You mischaracterized and summarily dismissed my contribution without asking a single clarifying question. My frustration was compounded imaging how a first time volunteer would feel if they were treated the same way. As I said on gerrit:330820:

Imagine you were, say, a first-time volunteer contributor and the first piece of feedback you received was the comment you posted above. How would that make you feel about even trying to contribute?

Please just ask questions before passing judgements in the future.

Regarding your proposal, had you asked questions, such as "are you aware of my proposal?", I would have had the opportunity to tell you "No, I wasn't aware - I'll go read it!".

I see your point[edit]

@Nemo bis: Upon further reflection, point taken on my comment. "Assume good faith" applies to me too ;) Also, btw, multi-language support was added! :). Thanks for your help!
