Caching to disk?[edit]

...but if it's not possible, you can just put it in a file on disk and read it from the file instead of making requests to the database

Is this actually the case? Do we do this? EEvans (WMF) (talk) 19:10, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@EEvans (WMF) I should have been clearer, Originally, this was meant to target tool developers relying on wikireplicas back then, I should make it clearer in this case. Thanks. ASarabadani (WMF) (talk) 10:02, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Normalizing normalization :)[edit]

The explanation of normalization here is great, but I wonder if you couldn't as easily replace some/most of this with a reference to Database normalization?

Along the same lines, there are some references to ongoing projects, implementations in use, and utilization figures that may change with time, requiring this to be updated. EEvans (WMF) (talk) 19:20, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

The thing is that database normalization article is more broad and more general. I want to focus on the specific case we usually do in Wikimedia. Regarding the ongoing projects and such. You're right. I'll clean it up. ASarabadani (WMF) (talk) 10:05, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
