From mediawiki.org

Hello again, GSoC enthusiasts! We're back with another biweekly blog to share the latest updates on our journey with VideoCutTool, an exciting project under the Wikimedia organization. Over the past two weeks, we've made significant strides in improving VideoCutTool, prioritizing stability while exploring new features to enhance the editing experience. Let's dive into the details of our progress!

  1. Keeping VideoCutTool Stable Stability is at the core of a reliable editing tool, and we're committed to making VideoCutTool as stable as possible. During this period, we've dedicated our efforts to address bugs, optimize performance, and improve overall reliability. By diligently working on bug fixes and code enhancements, we aim to provide users with a seamless and hassle-free editing experience.
  2. UI/UX Design Workshop User interface (UI) and user experience (UX) play a crucial role in the success of any editing tool. To ensure VideoCutTool is visually appealing and intuitive, we recently conducted a UI/UX design workshop. By incorporating user feedback and industry best practices, we're working towards delivering an editing interface that is both user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing.
  3. Projects Functionality We recognize the importance of maintaining a seamless editing workflow. To cater to this need, we've been working on implementing the "Projects" functionality within VideoCutTool. This exciting feature will enable users to store and manage their previous projects, allowing them to easily access and continue their editing work. With the Projects functionality, users will experience enhanced productivity and efficiency.
  4. Upload Directly Without Modification Simplifying the upload process is one of our key goals for VideoCutTool. We're developing a feature that allows users to upload videos directly to Wikimedia Commons without any modifications. This streamlined upload functionality will save users valuable time, especially when they are uploading videos that are their own property. We're excited about the convenience this feature will bring to our users.
  5. Preview WikiText Functionality To empower users with more control over their edits, we're working on a Preview WikiText functionality. This feature will allow users to preview the parsed WikiText directly on the result page. By visualizing how their WikiText will be rendered, users can make informed decisions and fine-tune their edits more effectively.

We're enthusiastic about the progress made during these two weeks of contribution. As we move forward, we are continuously seeking feedback from the Wikimedia community to ensure VideoCutTool meets their expectations and requirements.

If you have any suggestions, ideas, or would like to contribute to VideoCutTool, we welcome your involvement. Together, we can create an exceptional video editing tool within the Wikimedia ecosystem!

Stay tuned for our next update, where we'll share more exciting details about our GSoC journey with VideoCutTool. Until then, keep exploring and innovating!

Best regards,
