I served as a volunteer teacher of English as a second language during my eight years of work as an editor for one of the big legal publishing companies, LexisNexis. The combination of those two experiences with my travels in Latin America and my explorations of English and other languages motivated me to start my own project after my job ended.

The pursuit of that project, Law Explorers®, has produced a number of happy discoveries for me, one of which is Semantic MediaWiki. I believe that Semantic MediaWiki offers a variety of possibilities for multilingual, multicultural perspectives that will facilitate comprehension of terminology and promote legal literacy, entrepreneurial literacy, data literacy, civic literacy, and other literacies around our world.
