About me
[edit]I am a Full-Stack Developer and IT Technician from Arusha, Tanzania. Since 2021 I have been deeply committed to the Wikimedia movement and later on I became and have been serving as a volunteer Administrator for Swahili Wikipedia.

[edit]I am happy to have been selected as a Google Summer of Code 2026 contributor for the Wikimedia Foundation. My project is the Wikisource Bulk OCR feature which allows volunteers to OCR multiple pages of a book at once instead of doing it page by page manually.
Synopsis
[edit]Wikisource is an online wiki-based digital library operated by the Wikimedia Foundation where volunteers transcribe old books and documents. The Bulk OCR feature allows volunteers to OCR multiple pages of a book at once instead of doing it page by page manually. However the current implementation has several critical issues that reduce productivity and cause poor quality text being saved to wiki pages. This will directly benefit thousands of Wikisource volunteers worldwide who transcribe historical documents daily making their work faster more accurate and more enjoyable.
