This tool closes up talk page tables if they haven't been closed

Summary by Aaron Liu

This is expected behavior. Don't use tables for talk page formatting, use styled div blocks instead.

Repairing some types of broken wikitext, including closing tables, is expected behavior.

Is there a way to disable this on certain pages? If it closes up that talk page table then new topics will no longer automatically show up inside it

If you put the formatting in a template (or on a transcluded subpage), the tool will refuse to work. By the way, you shouldn’t use tables for formatting purposes, as such usage breaks semantic markup, thus confusing e.g. screenreader users; please use two nested <div>s instead. (Using <div>s may or may not disable autoclosing, I’m not sure. Using a template/subpage will disable the reply tool for sure.)

Just to close the thread: it looks like <div>s work in practice: .
