I could be missing something in theory, but I've tried Chrome, FF, Edge, and even IE to see if it was a browser compatibility issue and nothing so far. I can see the data for other queries but this one never seems to show up. I'm wondering if it has to do with the size of the data set that the query returns. Any ideas?

It did complete as far as the query runners are concerned. It takes more time for a browser to download the results (seriously, 1 million rows?!) than the timeout threshold and the connection will get killed before you get the complete results downloaded and rendered. And no, I do not like it being completed at all. See phab:T188564.
