Somehow, my sites have dropped way below the level of "supported" versions. They are both 1.26.2.
I suspect attempting a direct, manual upgrade to 1.29 with fail. Is there a recommended upgrade path I should follow? The server OS, PHP and MySQL are already up to date. Mediawiki just fell through the cracks.

A direct upgrade to 1.29 in fact is possible. The supported versions of PHP and MySQL are listed on page compatibility. The most important thing is - obviously - that you have a working backup in case things go wrong. The details on how to upgrade are on page upgrading.
