Upload files specific to pages

Hi there, I am new to wiki, can we upload files specific to the page we are on? And have a list of the uploads for that page? Also, we are having trouble embedding a PDF on a page. So far it only shows a thumbnail or a link. Any ideas? Thanks!

From what I know you can only upload using Special:Upload and include the files on a page by doing [[File:Example.jpg]]. For PDF what extension are you using?
