This sounds like a good idea! Thanks for sharing it. I have added a task for it in Phab:T125030 feel free to expand and edit it.

I'd like see it expand images in a hovercard when you mouse over them. Currently images are a bit of an all-or-nothing. Thumbnail or fullscreen.

Even just a hovercard containing direct links to the images sizes available on the image info page would be a handy shortcut.
