(comment added to the unification of projects)[edit]

That really doesn't need to be done, what is a point of that? Petrb (talk) 13:25, 21 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
There was a fairly long discussion on IRC regarding just that; details will be made clearer during the week of the 25th as I put forward more detailed proposed architecture plans. — MPelletier (WMF) (talk) 15:02, 21 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think marking it as "done" is a bit premature as the Bots project is still around :-) (and should be while Tools is still in diapers). --Tim Landscheidt 17:43, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
They are orthogonal to the tools project requirements; they'll no more be axed than the toolserver would be as long as they get some use, but the destination project exists and is available. — MPelletier (WMF) (talk) 18:19, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I was just referring to the "Implementation" column: "For management and simplicity, the webtools and bots projects should probably be merged under a single 'tools' project." That's not "done" in my opinion :-). --Tim Landscheidt 20:44, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Local email[edit]

"On Toolserver there are" (:-)) ~/.forwards for MMPs so that the maintainers can decide for themselves whether all, some, a mailing list or none of them should be receiving the tool's mails. Default is a local mbox. --Tim Landscheidt 17:25, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, that's one of the models worth looking into (and a reasonable default). — MPelletier (WMF) (talk) 18:20, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Access to revision text[edit]

On Toolserver there is WikiProxy. I personally haven't used it since it requires different setups for deployment on Toolserver (WikiProxy) and development (standard MediaWiki API), and I don't know if it is used in a significant amount anyhow. --Tim Landscheidt 17:46, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

With luck, it might be possible to give something similar to this. Another possibility might be a federated database to unify interface to revisions from the replica. — MPelletier (WMF) (talk) 18:22, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
