Yes but...[edit]

Hello and big thanks for this project and the Admin tools development project in general. I wish to say that while the proposed system may work for similar usernames, it will not for usernames that do not follow a pattern.

My suggestion would be, appart from the proposed system, a special page with the relevant options and an empty box, where you could enter one username per line, and decide what to do with them. Because currently spambots and socks don't really follow a pattern most of the times, so we need to be able to lock a mass of accounts that most times do not follow a name pattern at all.

If my meaning is unclear, please feel free to ask me.

Marco, that is very helpful! That changes what I have coded slightly (although it makes everything easier, actually). I'll get some new code up in gerrit later this week. CSteipp (talk) 20:50, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you! - I think having both tools (the one you wrote and the one I proposed) would greatly help us. Thanks. --Marco Aurelio (talkmeta) 18:35, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
