Template hell

[edit]

I would like to add licenses to my installation of Mediawiki. I copied the Mediawiki:Licenses page from this site, then copied each of those templates, then copied the templates those templates used, and on and on and on and ON AND ON AND ON. At that point, I just deleted them all, out of fear that I would be found dead at my keyboard in a thousand years, still copying and pasting templates. Is there a SIMPLE WAY to just ADD LICENSES without descending into a neverending hell of template dependencies? Thanks. -- 67.76.163.46 16:40, 13 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Never mind. I just pasted the summary of the license with a link to the license page, and that seems to work. -- 67.76.163.46 16:56, 13 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Suggest to remote GFDL

[edit]

Hi! GFDL is not a good license for media files so it has been banned on Commons. There is a discussion in c:Commons:Village_pump/Proposals#List_of_wikis_with_files_and_GFDL-only_in_MediaWiki:Licenses_(change_GFDL_cut-off_date) to change the cut off date and it would look good if we could strike mw from the list of wikis that suggest GFDL. It will not make a big change here because it has been years since anyone actually uploaded a file with the license GFDL. Its just a good signal if mw could remove it too.
