At least one research team (see Table 1 "No. of total DOI links" in 10.1007/978-3-319-49304-6_40) was fooled by the duplication of protocol-relative links in externallinks. Duplication is described here: . Should this duplication be explicitly called out in this table's definition?

Question about 'externallinks' and templates.
Today I was trying to discover how much external links we had in 'it.wiki' to a certain domain so I've issued this simple database query:
https://quarry.wmflabs.org/query/51068
So it seems we have 854 pages linking to that domain, but it's not possible: note how much inclusions of the related template we have:
https://templatecount.toolforge.org/index.php?lang=it&namespace=10&name=Treccani
Currently 9661 template inclusions over 854 externallinks entries.
What do you think about?
(I hope I will find more time to troubleshoot this but actually I haven't much. Apologies.)
