Delete the redirect?[edit]

The redirect was disactivated and labelled for deletion with the reason "Presence of redirect is hiding the fact that we need to create a public domain help page about this topic" by User:Kingboyk 08:45, 12 June 2008

The redirect was due to a recent page move which is discussed at Manual talk:Interwiki#Moved from "Help:Interwiki Linking". There's a few links we need to fix as a result of the move still : Special:WhatLinksHere/Help:Interwiki linking. Note that these are currently broken because this redirect has been disactivated.
We do not want to describe how to set-up interwiki links in the database. That's now at Manual:Interwiki, and that's why it was moved. In these help pages we only need to explain the idea from a user perspective. Do we actually need to create a public domain help page about this topic? I thought maybe we could describe interwiki linking just in a small section on Help:Links page. If we do create a page here at "Help:Interwiki Linking" again, we'll need to go through that list of links (Special:WhatLinksHere/Help:Interwiki linking) and check if each link should be pointing at "Help:Interwiki Linking" or Manual:Interwiki.

Oh you actually created some content. I've moved that onto a section of the Help:Links page. The link near the top of the Help:Links page is probably the main stale link. We can make this an anchor link down to the section on interwiki links. So that's fixed in the english help. But there's all the translations to sort out too. Need to give things time to settle down -- Harry Wood 09:57, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Righto, whatever you like. I think that's better, as interwiki isn't a big topic for the end user. I've just imported the help into a new wiki so I'm trying to sort out red and bad links you see :) --Kingboyk 10:20, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
