Overzicht
This page is a guide to adding footnotes (also called "citations", "inline citations" or "references") when both the VisualEditor/Citeren and the Citoid service has been configured for your wiki.
De service citoid maakt automatisch een voetnoot wanneer u deze een URL, DOI, ISBN, PMID, PMCID, QID, titel, citatie geeft. Het heeft een bijbehorende extensie, Citoid, die VisualEditor/Citeren en citaat-sjablonen gebruikt.
Werkbalk
De werkbalk verschijnt bovenaan uw scherm zodra u met deze tekstverwerker aan de slag gaat. Het bevat de pictogrammen die nodig zijn om citaten aan de pagina toe te voegen.
Vereisten
Zowel het hulpmiddel van de VisualEditor als citoid moeten in uw wiki zijn ingeschakeld. Als het hulpmiddel citatie en de service citoid beide niet zijn ingesteld, dan is er een dropdownmenu Referentie in de Hulpmiddelen beschikbaar. Als u dit ziet, bent u op de verkeerde helppagina. Bekijk in plaats daarvan de deze gebruikersgids, die instructies bevat over het gebruik van referenties in dit systeem.

Als of het hulpmiddel citation of de service citoid zijn ingeschakeld, wordt het dropdownmenu van het hulpmiddel citation Referentie vervangen door de knop Refereer. Dit is wat u moet zien.

Een referentie toevoegen
Click on the Refereer button in the toolbar.
Dit opent een dialoogvenster met drie tabbladen: Automatisch, Handmatig en Hergebruiken.
If the Automatisch tab is disabled, this means citoid is not enabled.
Als het tabblad Handleiding is uitgeschakeld, betekent dit dat het hulpmiddel citatie niet is ingeschakeld.

Automatisch
| In het automatische veld kunt u informatie invoeren over het boek of een andere bron die u wilt citeren, en er wordt automatisch een sjabloon citatie gegenereerd. U kunt een URL (websiteadres), een unieke identificatiecode zoals een ISBN voor boeken, DOI (Digital Object Identifier), PubMed ID, PMCID (inclusief de PMC-prefix) of QID (van Wikidata) invoeren.
U kunt ook een citaat of de titel van het werk in typen. U moet zo specifiek mogelijk zijn, omdat de zoekfunctie van de service citoid alleen het eerste resultaat van zowel WorldCat (wat voornamelijk boeken bevat) als Crossref (wat voor het grootste deel academische artikelen bevat) in willekeurige volgorde teruggeeft. |

Handmatig
There are two ways to add footnotes from the Handmatig tab: using a standard citation template, or using the "Basic" form.

Clicking on a template item such as " Book" will take you into the template editor for that citation template. Required information fields will be marked with an asterisk.
While some recommended parameters will also be shown, not all of them are required. You can remove them from the main dialog by unchecking the checkbox in the sidebar. If a parameter’s checkbox is greyed out and not clickable, that field is required and can't be removed. To add an entirely new field, use the shortcut Ctrl+⇧ Shift+D and then click on "Voeg ongedocumenteerde parameter toe" at the bottom of the editor. |

| Clicking on "Eenvoudige" will open the basic Reference editor, where you can type your citation, including formatting. You can also use the Basic form to insert a citation template that is not in the list of frequently used citation templates (see next).
You can make the reference belong to a given group, although normally this is left blank. (This option is used to display different groups of references separately with the "Referentielijst" tool.) |

Een bestaande referentie gebruiken
| If the page already contains a citation that applies to the text you want to source, then you can choose to re-use the existing citation.
To re-use an existing reference, place your cursor in the body of the text where you want to add a new reference (number) for that citation. Then click on the "Refereer" button in the toolbar, and click on the "Hergebruiken" tab from "Referentie invoegen" dialog. In the "Hergebruiken" tab, look at the list for the reference you want to reuse, and select it. If there are many references, you can use the search box (labeled "Zoeken in huidige referenties") to list only those references that include certain text. |

| To edit an existing reference, click on it where it appears in the text (usually as a bracketed number). You will see either an icon (and name) for the template that was used to create this reference, or a "Eenvoudige" icon (bookmark). If you see the icon for the template, clicking on edit button will will take you directly to the template editor dialog.

| If, instead of the template icon, you see the "Eenvoudige" icon (bookmark), clicking on the edit button will open a dialog where you can edit the reference. Clicking on this icon will open a dialog where you can edit the reference. |  |
| If you open a "Eenvoudige" reference and it only contains a link, you may see any option to Omzetten the reference. This will attempt to use the Automatic feature to replace the simple reference with a fully formatted reference. |  |
| If what appears is the "Eenvoudige" icon, clicking on the Edit button opens the Reference dialog, where you can edit the reference's contents.
Many wikis use templates to format references. If a template is used in your reference, then all the text in the template will be highlighted when you click on the reference information. If a template was used and you've clicked on information in that template, then the "Sjabloon" icon (puzzle piece) will appear. Click on that icon to edit the content of the template in the template editor dialog. See the Using standard cite templates for further information about editing templates. |

| If there isn't already a list of references on the page (for example, if you're adding the first reference for the page), you need to specify where the list of references, and their text, will be displayed to the reader.
Place the cursor where you want to display the references list (usually at the bottom of the page), open the "Invoegen" menu and click the "Referentielijst" icon (three books). |

| If you are using several groups of references, which is relatively rare, you can specify the group in this dialog. Only the references that belong to that group will be displayed here.
The final step in the References list dialog is to click "Invoegen". |

Citaat toevoegen buiten een voetnoot
| You can add citation templates directly into the article, without putting them in footnotes (this can be helpful if you want to create, say, a "Further Reading" list). The citoid service will not automatically fill in these citation templates. |  |

After you're done editing the template, click on "Invoegen" to return to the Reference editor, and "Invoegen" again to return to the page you're editing (if you are creating a "Further Reading" list, you will have to repeat the steps above at every bullet point of the list). |
