  1. On an Article page, click "Edit".
  2. Highlight a word or the sentence you want to create a link on.
  3. In the toolbar at the top of the page, click on Link Link.
  4. A panel opens with 2 options :
    1. "Wikipedia" allows you to add link that connects to another Wikipedia page. A search field helps you to find the right page.
      Some pages have the same title. Look carefully about the right title.
      If you create a link that targets a page that doesn't exists, this links will be red. Read more about red links.
  5. Click on "Done" to add the link.

Note Note: Don't forget to save your work when done!

The source code for links like the following on Wikipedia:

  • Link to another Wikipedia article
    The [[Moon]] is a [[satellite]] of [[Earth]].
    The Moon is a satellite of Earth.
  • Link to another Wikipedia article, with a different text shown:
    The [[Moon]] is a [[natural satellite|satellite]] of [[Earth]].
    The Moon is a satellite of Earth.
  • link to other websites
    Nasa website about [https://moon.nasa.gov/ Earth Moon].
    Nasa website about Earth Moon.

Use the toolbar

  1. On an article page, click "Edit source".
  2. Highlight a word or the sentence you want to create a link on.
  3. Click on the icon Link.
  4. A dialog opens, where you can select to select to add "To a wiki page" and "To an external web page".
  5. Use "Target page or URL:" to specify the target of the page.
  6. Use "Text to display:" to specify the label of the link (the text that will be displayed).
    The result is inserted into the wikitext: The [[Moon]] is a [[satellite]] of [[Earth]].

Note Note: The page you link is the exact title of the page.
Note Note: It is not possible to edit a link using the toolbar. You have to edit the wikitext (see below).
Note Note: Don't forget to save your work when done!

Use wikitext to create an a link to an internal link

  1. Type [[ at the beginning of the word or sentence you want to link
  2. Type ]] at the end of the word or sentence you want to link
    The result is: The [[Moon]] is a [[satellite]] of [[Earth]].
  3. To have a different label for the link, add a vertical bar | and use the following syntax:
    [[page you link|text you display]]
    The vertical bar separates the page title from the label you want to display.
    The Moon is a [[natural satellite|satellite]] of Earth.

Note Note: The page you link is the exact title of the page.

Use wikitext to create an a link to an external ressource

  1. On an article page, click "Edit source".
  2. Highlight a word or the sentence you want to create a link on.
  3. Click on the icon Reference. It will wrap the selected item with the wikitext code for links: [[ and ]]
  4. Type [ at the beginning of the word or sentence you want to link
  5. Type ] at the end of the word or sentence you want to link
  6. Paste the URL
    • just after the [
    • and keep a space betweeen the end of the URL and the beginning of the label
      Nasa website about [https://moon.nasa.gov/ Earth Moon].
      Nasa website about Earth Moon.

Note Note: It is possible add links to templates and images.
