How can I add new strings? I need special characters ¿, ¡, ñ, and Ñ. Also, characters not needed in some language can be deleted (or rearranged) without breaking the code? Aburayama

The special characters list is not yet configurable so you currently can't change the available special characters. I hope to have configurable special characters available in version 0.6. --Bananeweizen 12:53, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Oh, that's nice. I interested translating to ja, do I need translate only 3 files?--PiaCarrot 13:33, 2004 Nov 11 (UTC)

Question; How can I include a line between the templates? This is to separated differend types of templates. --Walter 22:06, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I've just added support for that. See article for details. --Bananeweizen 20:32, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

What language does actually use »...« as quotation marks ? I hope it was no mistake, but if you don't mind, could you add «...», for the French wikipedians ? (French is not a so minor language that it would not deserve having its own special characters or is it ?) --Aldoo

No, that was no mistake. You seem to be a bit egocentric with your assumption of how quotation marks might look like in other languages. They differ very heavyly from language to language. --Bananeweizen 17:35, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

zh-TW version edited, please readopt:)[edit]

Many thanks to Xyb for his translating and localizing into Chinese. However, since he is China-based, there are some usage differeces between Mandarin glossary of China and of Taiwan respectively, a situation quite similar to the difference between British and American English in some words, which can't be erased by simply conversion from Simplified Chinese characters into Traditional Chinese characters, so I have reviewed his translation and modified the zh-TW version done by Xyb. We would appreciate a lot if you could adopt this modified version for the zh-TW locale of Firefox Wikipedia extension, which I find really useful:) MilchFlasche

It's now base of the 0.7 translations. --Bananeweizen 17:35, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hebrew and RTL[edit]

I might want to translate the extension to Hebrew. The question is, how will it work with RTL alignment? I'm not a programmer, and I don't want to start things that are too complicated. If there is no problem with RTL alignment, and it's just like every other language, let me know and I'll start to work.

I don't really have any clue if that will work out of the box or if anything special is needed to make the dialogs and other things work for you. Do you know about other extensions which support RTL where I could have a look at? --Bananeweizen 17:35, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Development[edit]

Is there someplace that the development of this is tracked? Like, a CVS repository or something? Maybe consider putting this over on MozDev.org? That way you can open up development to others and easily track changes.... Just a suggestion. Oh, and by the way, I made some changes to the English locales located here. GPHemsley 04:14, Dec 26, 2004 (UTC)

The project has finally moved to mozdev.org. You are invited to become a member over there so that you can edit the english files directly via CVS (which would be easier for me). --Bananeweizen 17:35, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

How to use the translation[edit]

I recently downloaded this, the only problem is that I got the German version as standard, and I don't understand German... I use the Swedish version of Firefox, how do I install the English version instead? /130.235.184.253 21:26, 29 May 2005 (UTC) (Grillo)Reply

  • I am facing the same problem. I've just downloaded the extension and the toolbar showed up in German. I don't speak german (just like our friend Grillo, just above) and i want to know how to exchange the extension language to English. Do i need to reinstall the extension or is there any way to just change the language of it? I'm no developer. I just want to exchange the language. Thanks... :) 201.22.154.152 18:03, 31 October 2005 (UTC) (Daniel Duende)Reply

Update for Firefox 1.5?[edit]

Is any work being done on updating this useful extension for Firefox 1.5? The currently released version will not natively work with 1.5 - and when manually altered it behaves unpredictably and has some bugs which make it less than useful. Is there any chance that those with the technical know-how are going to fix the current problems? SFC9394 19:40, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
