The UpdateMediaWiki extension allows administrators and authorized users upgrade from a special page MediaWiki.

Installation[edit]

  • Download and place the file(s) in a directory called UpdateMediaWiki in your extensions/ folder.
  • Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php:
    wfLoadExtension( 'UpdateMediaWiki' );
    
  • Yes Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.

To users running MediaWiki 1.24 or earlier:

The instructions above describe the new way of installing this extension using wfLoadExtension(). If you need to install this extension on these earlier versions (MediaWiki 1.24 and earlier), instead of wfLoadExtension( 'UpdateMediaWiki' );, you need to use:

require_once "$IP/extensions/UpdateMediaWiki/UpdateMediaWiki.php";

User rights[edit]

Once you installed the extension, you'll have to set up the user rights in LocalSettings.php .

For example, the following sample configuration would allow sysops to do everything they want with UpdateMediaWiki:

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['updatecore'] = true;

Usage[edit]

To update from this extension, go to "Special:Updatemediawiki". Permission "updatecore" is required to do so.
