Data Platform Engineering/Intake Process

From mediawiki.org

We can best support and enable other teams when we are included as early as possible in their product development process. Being brought in early for design and strategy discussion lets us help to identify the approaches, solutions and challenges that will shape the work. That in turn, allows to provide a more predictable development and delivery cycle.

What stage are you at?[edit]

My team has an idea that is just an outline, we think we need data[edit]

Your team's Product Manager, can connect directly with our Data Platform Product Managers, Virginia Poundstone and Luke Bowmaker, via Slack or email. If your team doesn’t have a Product Manager then an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead can use the same process. From there, we will review the work and help identify if and how our team might be able to help.

My team has a clearly defined problem and is starting to think about solutions[edit]

Your PM, EM or Tech Lead can reach out directly to our Data Product Managers, Virginia Poundstone and Luke Bowmaker, via Slack or email. Please complete this intake form including any epics, tasks, documentation or miro boards. The task will be added to the board and triaged by our team. Our intake SLAs outline our expected turnaround time for the stages of intake.

My team found a bug/has a patch request/feature[edit]

File a Phabricator bug report. If the task is "Unbreak Now!" priority, please post a note with the Phabricator link on the internal [1] slack channel, indicating that it is a blocking issue. For search related issues tag Guillaume Lederry, and for all others tag Will Doran and Andreas Hoelzl. Alternatively you can post on the Data Platform Engineering IRC channel connect.
