Is it actually easier to say {{Manual|Foo}} than [[Manual:Foo|]] (even if it's a character shorter)? I'm not trying to start a religious war: I'm just not sure about this template's usefulness. —Emufarmers(T|C) 03:23, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I suspect the main benefit is the Special:MyLanguage redirection ( sample). Readers automatically see the page in their language if available. That has downsides, as I understand it, Special:WhatLinksHere won't show links to a page that are indirect through Special:MyLanguage. User:Shirayuki, is there some translation guideline for using Special:MyLanguage? -- SPage (WMF) (talk) 19:02, 7 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
This template should use Page_display_title translation if exists. See {{Localized link }} (ll). --Shirayuki (talk) 21:53, 7 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Translation admins add tvar tags on untranslatable parts. I think {{Manual|page name#anchor|translatable link text}} is ugly. --Shirayuki (talk) 22:34, 7 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
