getFSD[edit]

Is the getFSD() function in SpecialPhalanxStats.body.php one of the functions which relies on the specific ShoutWiki setup? Wondering since I came across the phalanx-stats-entry-message which has shoutwiki.com hardcoded as its domain and only gets the subdomain through the above mentioned function. Would it be possible to also query for the domain? /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 18:05, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, FSD is ShoutWiki jargon for Full SubDomain; FullSubdomain is fi.24 for fi.24.shoutwiki.com (language code is a part of the subdomain), but depending on what an individual wiki's founder chose, the Full SubDomain might not include the language code: i.e. laptops.shoutwiki.com (not en.laptops.shoutwiki.com).
There's no (sane) programmatical way to query for the domain, nor would it be sensible in our context; all ShoutWiki wikis are accessible through a subdomain.shoutwiki.com URL. For example TechInfoDepot's canonical URL is TechInfoDepot.info, but techinfodepot.shoutwiki.com works equally well, too. Not having to query for the domain means at least one saved SQL query per page view (though in practise it doesn't mean much; Phalanx's performance is horrible enough as-is). --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 23:42, 26 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the clarification. I was looking at message translation which is where the hard-coded shoutwiki.com surprised me. With the above clarification this has been resolved though. Cheers André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 14:09, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Working filters[edit]

Hi, is there a database with working filters which can be imported to a MW-installation ? --hollosch (talk) 16:29, 28 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes and no. Yes, such a database (well, database tables if we're being precise) exists since ShoutWiki uses Phalanx, but no, it's not public; unlike with AbuseFilter, there's no way to set the visibility of a filter, so all filters are private. That being said, you're free to contact ShoutWiki to discuss the options; after all, ShoutWiki is strongly committed to combating spam, both on ShoutWiki and on external sites, as spam is never just an individual site's issue. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 23:03, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
