This is dumb. The video shown is an example of how to use the software and not copying the video.

I still consider it a derivative work of the video. YouTube has plenty of freely-licensed videos you could have used instead.

@GreenComputer: Since you've also been active in cleaning up the file namespace on MediaWiki.org, could you please comment here?

The image is a derivative work of the original video, which is not freely licensed. This screenshot is therefore non-free, as the copyright for the video applies to each individual frame, not just the video as a whole.

It is not worth it to stick around in the MediaWiki community for me to keep up with code contributions or maintaining extensions. It is a non-stop battle on every front and no longer worth the effort. I will be moving on soon and closing this decade long chapter of my life.
