Hey dude with the funny nickname :) I think your Extension:IM Status is quite interesting, and to give it some more exposure, and to support more i18n, I just added it to the MediaWiki SVN. I also made a few minor patches, most significant I think is delaying the message loading. If you are serious about MediaWiki hacking, I would also recommend that you request commit access to the MediaWiki svn repo, by sending a short mail with a request to brion at wikimedia dot org, accompanied by a public key you can use with your subversion client.
