Subject: [Coding Challenge] 3 tips for participants

Hi there, coding challenge participant! We hope that you are making great progress towards completing your contest entry. Here are three tips to help you get started, or keep going:

  • Finding your way: To view your contest page, be sure that you are logged into mediawiki.org. When you log in and visit the challenge page, you will automatically be redirected to your contest page.
  • Collaborating: Part of being a great Wikipedia coder is knowing how to work together with the broader MediaWiki community. As you run into problems, feel free to ask questions on the wikitech-l mailing list and the IRC channels -- and feel free to help other contestants as well! Finally, in addition to your official submission, you can add your work in progress to this page. Collaborative ability is one of the judging criteria. It's not all about the code. :-)

If you have any questions that you do not feel comfortable asking on the mailing lists or IRC, you can always send your question directly to codingchallenge@wikimedia.org and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Happy hacking and thanks so much for participating!
